I decided to check the valves on my 690 today. The bike is parked do to an exhaust issue, so it was a good time for it. All the valves are in the bottom part of the tolerance values, at just over 30000km I'm happy to know that!  I couldn't tell if they were noisy because the mirrors and the license plate rattle all to hell, but they were due to be checked at 10000km, oops. I have a few pics to post when I get 'em out of my phone... |

Here are pics with the valve cover removed...   ...and the reason,    The pipe can now be installed after being welded, hopefully it will last for the rest of the season, looks like I'll have some "db" shopping to do this winter!...hehehe! I guess I am now officially riding a beater! |

I had my header crack a couple years ago but that crack looks further up the pipe Luc?

Ya it's at the end that slides into the muffler. The cracked area was(is) quite brittle apparently due to hot/cold cycles, $h1t happens eh?!

So what you are saying is that your bike "tolerates" you, you have a crack(ed) pipe and your " beater" is now classified the same as it's owner? At least you don't have to cruise the bars looking for someone to give you a " valve" Job!

No, I ordered at Gnarly. Turns out one item was on backorder, and it didn't fit my bike either so a correction was made and it will ship in a couple days now. It kinda sucks but it's given me the chance to take a good look at everything while it's parked.
