Keep that Shock away from me, it's a curse I tell ya!
I would have such high regard for you Rick if you were to purchase something built on an island. Sounds like the cool aid has been flushed?

Nice ride but it doesn't have any wheels?

(to Attrition) Nice. Looks like a serious dirtbike! A kickstart, too.
Where is that made? Europe? USA?

Nice ride but it doesn't have any wheels? Niely padded seat, though, Dan (unlike most KTMs), good ground clearance too, and I like the dual headlights....Oh, the joke potential: mount/dismount; throw a leg over; slightly used; expensive to maintain; service daily; would turn a lot of heads down at the sports bar; handles well on the curves; I can't afford that; I wouldn't be able to handle that; hard on the back at my age; ride hard and put away wet; shaft drive; wear protection; give her the helmet, etc etc etc....

Dale, is that center stand standard?
Anyway, I'd never be able to catch that....

The reviews on the new Triumph 800 XC are really starting to come in now, and everything I've read has been very favourable. I think it just might be the perfect DS for me -- bigger, but not too heavy, nor as expensive as the big Beemer or a KTM 990. Lots of farkles available already, too. I'll have to wait a year or two, but by then the bike will likely only be better, with any new-model bugs worked out, hopefully. Until then, I dream: www.pics-site.com/wp-content/uploads/2011-Triumph-Tiger-800-and-800-XC-10.jpgwww.pics-site.com/2010/11/11/2011-triumph-tiger-800-and-800-xc/2011-triumph-tiger-800-and-800-xc-3/No major upgrades for the KLR are in the works for this year, though a new rear tire (50/50) will be on the way soon, and I think I'll get that super-loud Stebel horn -- the better to get Dale's attention when he roars ahead of Ol' Blue....

(to Attrition) Nice. Looks like a serious dirtbike! A kickstart, too. Where is that made? Europe? USA? Missed your posting the first time around. It's a Beta. Italian company that makes mostly trials bikes but sells them in the states now through www.americanbeta.com/The picture is of the RS 450 which is a 50 state legal Dual Sport, I think they meant dirt bike....

^ Nice bike, Attrition -- looks very serious: a dedicated dirt bike with turn signals & mirrors bolted on. As I can afford only one bike at a time, and don't want to go the truck or trailer route, a dirt road-worthy larger DS, which is also good on highway (like the new Triumph, above), would seem to be the perfect compromise. At 50 now, I don't need to go TOO nuts in the dirt....

Yep -- still very much impressed by what I'm reading and seeing re the new Triumph 800XC:
Maybe 2012 -- 2nd model year to work any bugs out? I could keep up with the big guys, then, and 800CC is really about perfect for my needs. Not too big, not too small.
Anyone want to buy me one?
